Host Community Welcome
The community of Nanaimo extends a warm welcome to delegates planning to attend Tourism Vancouver Island’s Annual Conference, Golf Tournament, and AGM in the harbour city, Nanaimo.
This year, the Annual Conference will take place September 20 – 22nd at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. The Pre-Tee Off BBQ will be held at the Nanaimo Airport, the Annual Golf Tournament at Cottonwood Golf Course and the Welcome Reception at The Dinghy Dock Pub. Various activities will be offered throughout the conference featuring historic downtown walking tours with Tracks Outdoor Adventures, Newcastle Island interpretive tours with Snuneymuxw First Nations, Nanaimo Harbour Ferry ride, Big Canoe Tours with Alberni Outpost, WildPlay Park activities and Tofino Air sightseeing tours.
Nanaimo is known for its stunning harbour, which offers a multitude of experiences in its sheltered local waters where kayaking, crabbing, boating and even snorkeling with the seals are all part of Nanaimo’s local lifestyle. Downtown you can tour multiple art galleries and the historic Bastion, or climb through a replica coal tunnel at the Nanaimo Museum. Adventure in Nanaimo extends beyond its shores to backcountry hiking, mountain biking and ATV tours upon scenic Mount Benson which overlooks the city. Nanaimo River’s steep canyon attracts skilled rock climbers and thrill-seekers to WildPlay Element Park with bungy jumping, zip lines and a king swing. Stay a few extra days to take in the chic urban lifestyle downtown, or soak up the rural pleasures in the Yellow Point area with local artisans, farmers markets and organic farms.
